Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC)
The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) was established at the Hyderabad Institute of Technology and Management Sciences (HITMS), in compliance with the directives of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), which mandates all Degree Awarding Institutions (DAIs), both public and private, to establish QECs to align education with national and international quality standards. The QEC at HITMS was established with the approval of the Worthy Rector, vide university notification No. Reg./HITMS/2025/020, dated 28/06/2025.

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) aligns its mandate with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing the Institute’s commitment to global standards. Key alignments include:

Key Functions & Objectives
The functions of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) include, but are not limited to, the evaluation of individual taught courses, program-level assessments, faculty performance evaluations, administration of student feedback surveys, campus-wide reviews, and the appraisal of programs of the Institute with reference to instructional quality, research output, and adherence to the minimum standards prescribed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of QEC
- To establish and facilitate interdepartmental coordination for the effective execution of QEC activities.
- To administer structured feedback mechanisms, including surveys from students, faculty, alumni, and employers of institute graduates.
- To compile analytical summary reports based on collected feedback and submit them to the relevant department for review and necessary action.
- To conduct periodic self-assessment of all academic programs in accordance with prescribed guidelines.
- To promote awareness on quality assurance and self-evaluation among students and faculty through organization of workshops, seminars, and conferences.
- To participate in and contribute to capacity-building initiatives at national and international forums through attendance at relevant workshops, seminars, and conferences.
- To arrange evaluation visits for the assessment of Self-Assessment Reports (SARs) prepared by the respective departmental program teams.
- To follow up with the concerned departments for the formulation and implementation of corrective action plans based on observations from external evaluation teams.
- To ensure the integration and application of quality assurance (QA) criteria as outlined by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
- To compile and annually update the Institute’s University Portfolio Report (UPR).
- To coordinate institutional visits by HEC teams for performance evaluations and program reviews, including follow-ups on recommended remedial actions.
- To conduct Institutional Performance Self-Evaluation (IPSE) and monitor implementation of subsequent remedial measures.
- To advise and support departmental heads regarding accreditation processes for academic programs.
- To manage all matters related to issuance of No Objection Certificates (NoCs) in coordination with HEC.
- To collect, maintain, and provide institutional data for participation in national and international university ranking exercises.
